Hike on Rhodes |
I myself have never hiked on Rhodes and I am unsure whether it is a good hiking island or not. But I can well imagine that it is a good island to hike on because the landscape is very beautiful in some places. So far I have only wandered around the old town. Something I really enjoy is walking along the city wall in the old town of Rhodes. The next time I travel to Rhodes, however, I will go on real hikes. Perhaps. :-)
On a walk along the city wall in the old town of Rhodes.
I usually settle for wandering around the old town of Rhodes.
Rhodes does not only have nice beaches, there is also beautiful nature, such as here at Monolithos. |
If you are going to hike in Rhodes, I can recommend Anavasis blue map (1:75,000), which describes several hikes on the island. Terrain maps, also called Skai Maps, is another Greek map publisher that specializes in hiking maps. They also have a map of Rhodes with a resolution of 1:75,000. The map describes the best hikes on the island. Both maps contain detailed maps of Rhodes Town and are available for purchase on site. If you don't want to go on longer hikes, but still want to see a bit of Rhodes nature, I can recommend you to visit Epta Piges, Butterfly valley and Rodini Park.
If you don't like to hike far, you can hike short distances in Epta Piges.
The butterfly valley is also suitable for short hikes in beautiful nature.
Rodini Park is a quiet oasis in the middle of Rhodes town. |
Most people content themselves with walking along the beaches, like hera on Lindos beach.
And they don't walk along the beaches, they stroll around in alleys, like here in Lindos village. |
