Travel to Lefkada |
Lefkada has no airport but it is still very easy to travel here, regardless of whether you are travelling independently or if you are going on a package holiday. It is even easier to travel to Lefkada than to all other islands in Greece: choose between airplane, ferry, bus or car. The reason why it is so easy to travel to Lefkada is because there is a causeway joining the island to the mainland.
From Vasiliki there are ferries to Ithaca and Kefalonia.
BY CHARTER FLIGHTSIt is possible to go on a package holiday from many countries. Check with a travel agency in your country. The plane come down at Aktion Airport in Preveza on the mainland (about 25 kilometres from Lefkada). The transfer from the airport to the tourist resorts on Lefkada takes about an hour. BY INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTSIf you arrive to Preveza by international flight, take a taxi from the airport to Lefkada, the ride to, for example, Lefkada Town takes between 25-35 minutes and costs about 60 €. If you do not find any flight to Preveza, you can fly to Kefalonia or Athens. From Fiskardo on Kefalonia there is a daily boat connection with Vasiliki on Lefkada.

BY DOMESTIC FLIGHTSPreveza has daily air connections with Athens BY BUSThe bus ply the route Athens-Lefkada and vice versa up to five times a day. There is also buses to and from Thessaloniki, Patras, Igoumenitsa and Preveza. Bus time table is available here » BY FERRYThe boat connections with Ithaka, Kefalonia and Meganisi are very good. There are two ports on Lefkada, partly Nidri which has boat connections with Fiskardo on Kefalonia, Frikes on Ithaka and Meganisi, partly Vasiliki which has daily boat connections to Fiskardo on Kefalonia and Frikes on Ithaca. |
