Sami in Kefalonia |
Sami is Kefalonia's busiest port and lies 25 kilometres north-east of Argostoli. The town went through a major upswing after the premiere of the film of Captain Corelli's Mandolin. Because it was in Sami as large parts of the movie was filmed. Now when the years has gone, Sami has lost some of its lustre.
Sami is Kefalonia's busiest port.
But Sami still is an attractive town thanks to the pleasant waterfront lined with attractive tavernas and colourful fishing boats.
Along the nice port promenade in Sami there are many pleasant tavernas.
In close proximity of Sami lies Drogarati Cave and Melissani Lake, as well as the nice beach of Antisamos. From the port of Sami, ferries sails for Ithaca and Corfu, Patras and Killini in the Peloponnese, and to Igoumenitsa on the Greek mainland.
Sami is a very pleasant village and is extremely beautifully located.
ACCOMMODATION IN SAMISami is a good place to stay in if you want to be close to Drogarati Cave, Melissani Lake and Antisamos, or if you're leaving with an early ferry. If I were to stay in Sami, I would probably choose Melissani hotel, which looks very nice. Book Melissani hotel here »Book other hotels in Sami here » |
WHAT YOU MUST NOT MISS WHEN YOU VISIT SAMIDon't miss Melissani Lake, which you can read about here » |
