Ixia and Ialysos beach in Rhodes

Ixia and Ialysos are two large tourist resorts a few kilometres southwest of Rhodes town. Both are dominated by large hotels, some of them gigantic. There is nothing genuine anywhere and it is almost hard to believe you are in Greece. But it is not as non-Greek as in Faliraki.

The advantage of living in Ixia and Ialysos is that it is close to Rhodes Town.

Ixia is dominated by large luxury hotels and All Inclusive.

Ixia and Ialysos are bound together and it is impossible to see where one tourist resort ends and where the other begins. The beaches consist of pebbles that are mixed with sand in places. As the west coast of Rhodes is often windy, both beaches are popular with wind and kite surfers.

There are charter to both Ixia and Ialysos, and have done so for many years. I would never choose to live here because there are so many other nice tourist resorts on Rhodes. But I know others who like Ixia and Ialysos. The advantage of living here is the proximity to Rhodes town, and to the airport.

Ixia and Ialysos are close to Rhodes airport so it's a short transfer.
