Vromolimnos & Agia Paraskevi in Skiathos |
About 6 kilometres south of Skiathos Town lies Vromolimnos, which is the island's hippest beach, along with Banana beach. The beach is located on the other side of Cape Kanapitsa. During peak season, the sun beds stand close like Roman legions, the bars plays the latest dance music, mobile phones rings, and the evening's parties are planned. On Vromolimnos it is seeing and being seen that counts. The beach in the rather shallow bay is long and narrow, the sand is light and fine and the water is clear. If you are going to take the bus to Vromolimnos, get off at bus stop 13.

During high season it can get crowded on the beach.
Vromolimnos is one of Skiathos' many child-friendly beaches. But it's mostly adults on the beach. |
A few kilometres north of Vromolimnos lies Kolios beach, which is the complete opposite of the party beach. Kolios is one of Skiathos' most child-friendly beaches, and it shows, because the beach is usually full of swimming and playing kids. Kolios is shallow and the sand is perfect for building sandcastles. If you are going to take the bus to Kolios, get off at bus stop 15.

Just west of Kolios is Agia Paraskevi beach (or Platanias), which is one of the longest beaches on the island. Walking the entire beach from the beginning to the end is like doing a small workout. There is usually plenty of space here even during peak season. By the way, Paraskevi means "Friday" in Greek. If you are going to take the bus to Agia Paraskevi, get off at bus stop 16.

ACCOMMODATION IN KOLIOS AND AGIA PARASKEVIBelieve it or not, quite many people choose to stay in either Kolios or Agia Paraskevi. And it's not just Greeks but also other nationalities.
