Troulos, Maratha, Xanemos & Stigero in Skiathos |
As you can see, there are many beaches that I haven't written about here. Below you can read about a few more beaches. The rest you can discover on your own. :-)
Xanemos beach near Skiathos airport.
Xanemos beach is located where the airport ends just north of Skiathos Town. As a beach, it's nothing to get excited about, at least not compared to other beaches on the island, but if you like watching planes, Xanemos is a real paradise. It's really cool to lie in the water and watch the planes take off and land.
Stigero beach is close to the airport and is popular with nudists.
Stigero beach in the other direction.
To the right of the airport is Stigero beach, which is a relatively unknown beach with few visitors. You can also watch planes from here. (I'm a bit of a sucker for that.) |
Between Agia Paraskevi and Koukounaries in southwest Skiathos, there are two beaches that I like: Troulos and Maratha. I like Troulos beach because there are nice lunch tavernas above the beach. The fact that the beach is as nice as it is doesn't make it any worse. Like many other beaches, Troulos is also child-friendly. If you take the bus from Skiathos Town, get off at stop 20 if you are going to Troulos.

Beach boats to Troulos beach leave from the small harbour in Skiathos town.
The beach has been named Troulos after the small island on the left.
Maratha beach is a somewhat secret beach between Troulos and Koukounaries. The beach is just like Troulos, ideal for families with small children. You reach Maratha via a small path from the main road, before the large hotel Skiathos Palace.
Maratha is one of Skiathos' most child-friendly beaches.
