Mandraki, Ghournes & Agistro in Skiathos

Skiathos' most popular beaches are located in the southern parts of the island. What many people miss is that there are equally nice beaches in northwestern Skiathos. Among them are Mandraki, Ghournes, Agistro and Krifi Ammos. To get here, turn right before you reach Agia Eleni beach. Continue until you see signs pointing to Mandraki. There are no buses to any of the beaches in northwestern Skiathos.

The landscape is not completely different from Sweden. If you have been to Trovill on Sandhamn in the archipelago of Stockholm, you know more or less what to expect. Even when it comes to the beach, because just like Trovill, Mandraki is a very nice beach. But there are also big differences, the water is much warmer here, and there is a taverna. From the beach you have a lovely view of the Pelion peninsula on the mainland.

In the far part of Mandraki beach there is a rock ledge with porous "clay" where you can create figures. When we were here once, there was a man carving out many different works of art. This part of the beach is popular with nudists.

Just a stone's throw from Mandraki, behind Cape Elias, Ghournes beach (or Elias beach) stretches along the long bay. The beach is suitable for those searching for a serene atmosphere and secluded beaches. There is plenty of space even during high season. Sun beds are available for rent at the only taverna. Nudism is allowed on some parts of the beach.

Agistro beach is located east of Ghournes. If you are a good swimmer, you can swim between the beaches. Agistro is a really nice beach with sand dunes, crystal clear waters and beautiful surroundings. Sparsely crowded. Sun beds are available for rent and there is a taverna. Nudism is also allowed here.
