Stormy weather with rain on Naxos

There will be sunshine after the rain, they say. It could also be the opposite: there will be rainstorm after the sun. It was lucky that Camilla's birthday was yesterday. If she had had a birthday today, it wouldn't have been a "perfect day", as I wrote about yesterday. The storm started during the night when a storm passed by and the whole house shook and rattle creaked, and the shutters made a noise like a dishwasher with a stomach ache. Not easy to sleep then.

Stormy weather with rain and wind on Naxos in Greece.

This is what it looked like when we looked out this morning. There was no visit at the bakery today.

Can it be cold and rainy on Naxos? Yes, it can.

We had breakfast indoors in our messy room. I try to smile, but I was too cold to smile.

Later in the sun came out and we took the opportunity to wash our increasingly worn clothes. We have the same clothes as when we left Sweden five months ago, so it's no wonder that they are starting to get a little worn out. The advantage of the clothes being worn out is that there is not as much textile left, and then they dry faster. The clothes barely had time to dry before the rain came back.

Our clothes dry quickly because they are so well-used. Kastro in the background.

In the evening it calmed down a bit so we could walk around town and have an ouzo on the harbour esplanade. We saw some signs that Christmas was approaching. In a shop we saw the first Christmas decorations in a shop window. There is just over a month left until Christmas so maybe that is not so strange. What is strange, however, is seeing Christmas preparations in Greece. We have never experienced that before. But we have never been to Greece this late in the year either.

Christmas is just around the corner in Greece too.

After the Christmas promenade, and the ouzo on the harbour esplanade, we went as usual to our favourite restaurant Metaxi Mas and had an delicious dinner. This evening we ate, among other things, a large plate of beetroot from Naxos. With the tops left on of course, because beetroot greens are just as good as the beetroot itself.
