Goodbye Naxos! Hello Athens! |
Our time on Naxos would not have been the same if it weren't for Pension Sofi. We therefore start with some of the nicest and most hospitable people we have ever met in Greece: Panos, Sofi, Rena and Thodoris at Pension Sofi. Thank you for being in our life and thank you for everything you have done for us. Thank you so much! We would also like to say a big thank you to Restaurant Metaxi Mas in Naxos old town! If we hadn't found this fabulous taverna, we don't know what we would have done. Thank you so much! And thank you so much to the fantastic Plaka beach where we have spent so much time!
Many thanks Thodoris and Rena at Pension Sofi!
Finally, a big, big thank you to the wonderful Plaka beach!
Now another Plaka awaits, namely the Plaka district of Athens, where we have booked a room at Hotel Adonis. Wondering how it feels to come to the big city after desolate Naxos? Well, we will soon find out. I can't bear to write about this sad day, so I'll let the pictures and the short captions speak for themselves.
We had a sad last breakfast on our beloved balcony.
We said goodbye to our wonderful breakfast view. |
We packed our last ferry tickets.
Thodoris drove us down to the port where we said a sad goodbye to him and Rena.
One last check that everything was packed.
There were not many people queuing to board the ferry. |
Goodbye beautiful Naxos Town.
Saying goodbye to Naxos was very emotional.
It became even more emotional when the ramp raised to the famous notes.

The last picture from Naxos on this trip. |
When we arrived in Piraeus, we felt happy again. The trip wasn't over yet.
We didn't take the metro to the airport, but to Syntagma.
From Syntagma, we walked with our gigantic luggage to the Hotel Adonis in Plaka.
A surprise awaited us at the hotel. Fresh snuff! Thanks Arne & Birgitta!
Then we toasted with white wine that the hotel gave us. |
In the evening, we walked around Plaka. Fewer tourists, otherwise everything was as usual.
What wasn't as usual, however, was seeing the Christmas decorations in Athens.
The souvenir sales outside Hadrian's Library in Monastiraki were going on as usual.
We were looking forward to seeing Athens' many sights during the off-season.
