Camel beach in Kos |
Camel beach is a nice little lonely beach between Agios Stefanos beach and Paradise beach, not far from Kefalos. Camel beach is in my opinion one of the best beaches on Kos. Unlike most other beaches on the island, this beach is surrounded by small rock ledges, and I like that. You can dive from the rock ledges, and I like that even more.
Camel beach.
The water is lovely and inviting, especially for those who like to snorkel. Where the water starts, the ground is slippery and reefy, but if you walk further out in the water, the ground is soft and sandy.
There are slippery underwater rocks but outside there is a nice sandy bottom. |
The entrance to Camel beach can not be missed, a big sign with a camel on shows the drive down. On the Greek road signs it is written Kamila beach, to the great delight for all who is named Kamilla, or Camilla.
Camilla and Kamila beach. :-D
Kamila in Greek means camel in English, something my wife Camilla does not use to appreciate when she introduce herself to Greeks. I always introduce myself with my Greek name: Jannis, and Camilla with her Greek name: Camel. :-)
The camel Camilla looks out over Camel beach. |
