Vlychadia in Kalymnos |
Furthers down on the southern parts of Kalymnos lies the small fishing village of Vlychadia in a sheltered cove. Here are two beaches separated by a point of land. The beach to the left is quite stony and not particularly good. The taverna above the beach is great.

The beach to the right of the point is however really good, the sand is soft and the water is lovely. Also here are tavernas. When you get tired of swimming and sunbathing, you can visit the Sea World Museum of Valsamidis above the beach to the right.

There is a considerable amount of caves on Kalymnos, someone said that there are as many as 60. Many was used as homes and places of worship in the olden times. Sadly, most of the caves are difficult to reach. The most important cave, with several fine stalactites, are Kefalas Cave west of Vlychadia. It is possible to hike to the cave from Vlychadia, or to drive almost right up to the cave from Vothini (the village before Vlychadia).

The small folk museum is located along the road to Vlychadia.
ACCOMMODATION IN VLYCHADIAThere is limited accommodation choices. If I were going to stay here
overnight, I would definitely choose Kazonis Studios, which looks
very nice.
