Easter on Amorgos. Waiting for the holy icon.

Just another morning in paradise.

At lunchtime, we followed Kostas to the bakery in Xilokeratidi where the dough this day has been replaced by goat ovens. Anyone who not had a large oven at home cooked Easter dinner in the bakery ovens. Do I have to say that it tasted good!

Also today, there were many priests out. We felt that something big was going on.

We drove up to Chora to wait for the key icon from the monastery Chozoviotissa. The priest in the picture also waited patiently, and a bit tense. He was waiting for this:

Slowly, slowly they dragged themselves from the monastery up the mountain.

It was an impressive sight.

At last they met.

When the icon was placed in one of the churches of Chora (the icon and the priests continued to walk around the villages in a few days) we went for a walk in Chora. The square on the photo is named Loza.

When we arrived at the "entrance" to Chora there was a big party in the square.

We were not in party mood, we where homesick for Katapola and drove slowly homeward.
