Ganema & Koutalas beach in Serifos |
Ganema beach is located approximately 9 kilometres west of Livadi. On the way there you pass three other beaches: Kalo Ampeli, Vagia and Kalena. The beach at Ganema is okay. The best part is at the far end, where the only taverna is and some shady tamarisk trees.
Kalo Ampeli beach is located before Ganema and Koutalas beaches.

From Ganema it is only a few kilometres to the ancient mining village of Koutalas. The today's little ghostly village was once an important shipping port of iron ore. Many of the old workers' homes and offices are in ruins and the rusty crane that loaded the ships with ore swings alone in the wind. The village only have a few residents today: mainly fishermen who have their anchorages off the beach.
Koutalas beach. The crane to the left is from the time when Koutalas was important for the mining industry.

The beach may not be so much to write home about, pebbles both on the beach and in the water. But there is a taverna with a few tables where you can enjoy lunch and beautiful surroundings.

ACCOMMODATION NEAR BYWhat I have seen, there is only a few accommodation options in the area. There is one hotel, or what to call it, that really stands out. Namely The Coco-Mat Eco Residences, located on the beach in Vagia, and it consists of 13 renovated miner houses. It looks amazing and I would gladly like to stay there.
