Lampes beach in southwestern Peloponnese |
Lampes beach is one of many very nice beaches in the south-western Peloponnese. I think I've visited every beach in this part of Greece, and they've all been absolutely amazing. Lampes beach is one of the least exploited beaches in the southwestern Peloponnese. There are no hotels here, but there are a couple of tavernas, a canteen, and there are sun beds and umbrellas for rent, but only at the beginning and at the end of the beach. On the middle part of the beach there is nothing but golden sand and wonderful waters.

The island of Sapienza is the next largest island in the region of Messenia, as this part of the Peloponnese is called. There are several nice beaches on the island. Highest mountain meters 219 meters above sea level. There are no taverns on the island, which is uninhabited.

Sapienza is known for its clear water and that there are many sunken shipwrecks around the island. There is a lighthouse here that can be visited. From the lighthouse you can look down on the heart-shaped island of Diadelfi. If you are curious about Sapienza, you can take a bech boat and excursion boat from the port in Methoni.
ACCOMMODATION NEAR LAMPES BEACHAs I said, there are no hotels on the beach itself, but it is close to some nice villages where you can find accommodation. So if you want to sunbathe and swim at Lampes beach, you can choose to stay in, for example, Methoni, Finikounda or Pylos. Methoni is 5 kilometres west of Lampes, Finikounda is 5 kilometres east of Lampes and Pylos lies 15 kilometres north of the beach. |
