Beaches on Chalki

I don't think anyone goes to Chalki for the beaches. The beaches are few and quite mediocre, at least when compared to the neighboring islands of Tilos and Rhodes.

The exception is Pondamos beach which is about a 10 minute walk from Emborio. Pondamos - the island's only sandy beach - is shallow and child-friendly. It is said that the sand disappears into the sea some winters, but then new sand is brought in from Rhodes for the next season. There is a taverna here and sunbeds and parasols for rent.

This small rock pool is located just after Pondamos beach.

Ftenagia beach is a tiny beach just south of Emborio. The beach consists of pebbles mixed with a little sand. As a beach, Ftenagia is not much to write home about, but the crystal clear turquoise water is incredibly inviting, not least if you like snorkelling. There is also a taverna here.

The taverna at Ftenagia beach has a golden location, you can walk straight into the water once the Greek salad is finished. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from Emborio to Ftenagia.

Kania beach north of Emborio is a pebble beach mixed with sand that takes about 25 minutes to walk to. There are sunbeds and parasols for rent, and there is a small taverna.

Gialoi beach is a small pebble beach located on the south coast, below Chorio. In northern Chalki there are two smaller beaches - Areta and Dio Gialoi - which are only accessible by taxi boat. There are no facilities on either of these beaches.
