Kalamies beach in Kalymnos

Kalamies Beach lies a few kilometres before Emporios. When you drive a scooter downhill to the beach there is no question of switching off the engine, it may be necessary to engine brake as the road slope abruptly down to the beach.

Kalamies beach is located a few kilometers before Emporios in northern Kalymnos.

The beach does not belong to any of Kalymnos' better beaches, it is quite stony, and it can be tricky to get into the water in some places. But it is definitely the coolest beach on Kalymnos, and one can almost believe that they ended up in Thailand, and that thanks to the awesome Pirates Of Kalymnos Exotic Ambelli Taverna.

Same same, but different, as they say in Thailand and on the island of Kalymnos in Greece.

The beach is also known as Exotic beach, and it actually is a little exotic. Why one gets a feeling of Thailand is because the umbrellas are made of palm leaves, there is a little disordered, there are funny signs, and the taverna looks as if it lay in Krabi, and not on Kalymnos. When we were here, Bob Marley was played all the time. Just such a thing. :-)

Of course there are cannons on Pirate beach.
