Messaria on Schinoussa |
About two kilometres north of Chora lies the tiny village of Messaria where about 20 people live. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from Chora to Messaria.
The road that runs between the villages of Chora and Messaria.
The village is so small that before you say Kalimera, you have passed the village. Sometimes someone sits outside a house and philosophize, but usually you are only met by some cackling chickens, and possibly one or two donkeys. One taverna lies where the village begins, and one taverna lies in the village. From Messaria it takes about 10 minutes to walk down to Psili Ammos beach. In the vicinity of the village are also the beaches of Gelolimnionas and Fykio.

ACCOMMODATION IN MESSARIAWhen I was in Schinoussa last time, I discovered Hotel Harama in Messaria, and then I decided to stay there the next time I travel to Schinoussa. It must be absolutely amazing to live in such a small village as Messaria. Imagine waking up in the morning and going down to the wonderful beach of Psili Ammos and having a morning swim, and then going home and having breakfast.
