Akti beach in Kalymnos

If you're driving to Rina and the Valley of Vathy (which you must do because it is so beautiful) you will see a small beach called Akti down to the right. The beach is small, but it is good, and it is not visited by many tourists. The beach is lined with tamarisk trees that gives a much needed shade. Here is a taverna that is open during high season.

Sponges was an important industry on Kalymnos in the past, today the sponge industry is taken over by fish farming. Large fish tanks is visible out at sea along much of the coastline between Pothia and the Valley of Vathy. Also outside Akti beach.

There are almost as many pisciculture's as there are goats on Kalymnos.
