Grikos village and beach on Patmos |
Grikos is a small fishing village about 4 kilometres southeast of Skala. It is my absolute favourite village on Patmos. The village is situated in a stunningly beautiful bay with turquoise waters that is well protected from northern winds. Here there is a nice beach, several very good tavernas, cafes, scooter rental places, as well as several hotels and family-owned pensions. Grikos suits you who like peace and quiet.

The luxurious Patmos Aktis Suites & Spa is located right on the beach. |
We have had lunch many times at Restaurant Stamatis by the sea. If you are staying in Skala, it's worth going here just to eat. There is bus service to Grikos from Skala so you don't have to drive yourself. Outside Restaurant Stamatis, you can marvel at the Greek archipelago's smallest roundabout.

Restaurant Stamatis is worth a detour. Delicious food! |
Grikos is very similar to Blefoutis on the neighbouring island of Leros. Blefoutis is also situated in a beautiful bay, and there are also very good tavernas and the beach is absolutely wonderful. So if you like Blefoutis on Leros, you will probably like Grikos too.
Perhaps Greece's smallest roundabout in the fishing port.
In the centre of Grikos bay is an island called Tragonissi populated only by goats. Opposite Tragonissi (on the mainland) is a beach called Petra. The beach got its name from the high rock which stands at one end of the beach. Petra means stone in Greek.
