Agios Ioannis beach in Mykonos |

Agios Ioannis is located about 5 kilometres southwest of Mykonos Town. It is a nice beach that is not at all as exploited as other nearby beaches. Certainly there are many hotels and pensions, but here are not as many people as, for example, in Platys Gialos.

In the far corner of the beach is a small fishing port where the church of Agios Ioannis stand, the church has given its name to the beach. If you continue the dirt track behind the church, you will soon reach Kapari beach, which is a small beach that is even less exploited.

If you've seen the British film Shirley Valentine, then you might recognize the Agios Ioannis beach, since it was here that parts of the film were filmed.
Maybe it was just here on the shore that Shirley Valentine was sunbathing.
ACCOMMODATION IN AGIOS IOANNISThere are quite a lot of hotels in Agios Ioannis. Some of them are luxurious, but there are also less luxurious hotels. Manoula's Mykonos Beach Resort looks very nice. |
